TLDR
Overall, my experience at Mezzo was excellent. The restaurant offers a unique blend of traditional and modern flavours, with standout dishes like the "crema di mascarpone con biscotti" that will leave a lasting impression. If you can overlook the outdoor dehor's questionable decor choices, Mezzo is worth a visit.
I recently had lunch at Mezzo, a charming restaurant two steps from the magnificent Villa Ada in Rome. The restaurant offers a unique blend of traditional recipes with a modern touch, resulting in a delightful culinary experience.
One of the highlights of my meal was the "crema di mascarpone con biscotti" - a heavenly mascarpone cream served with mind-blowing cookies. The combination of the creamy, rich mascarpone and the perfectly baked cookies was divine. It was a dessert that left me craving for more. The dish we ordered for the kids, a portion of "fettuccine al ragu bianco", was good, but the pasta was not perfectly cooked. I ordered a "cacio e pepe con fiori di zucca" that I loved, even if the plate was too salty. The BBQ bao is a must-try!
The service at Mezzo was excellent. The staff was fast and precise, ensuring every dish was delivered promptly and with great attention to detail. The price, at around 50 EUR per person, was reasonable considering the food quality and the overall dining experience.
However, there were a couple of aspects of Mezzo that didn't quite meet my expectations. The first is about the entry I ordered. On the menu, it was named "cordon bleu", but it was everything but a cordon bleu. I suggest not being too creative when writing a menu. The second is about the place's style. While the indoor furniture had a relaxed and contemporary vibe, a special mention goes to the restroom's style, which is simply amazing. The outdoor dehor seemed to lack the same level of sophistication. The presence of tacky dream catchers hanging around the outdoor seating area was a bit off-putting and didn't blend well with the overall ambience of the restaurant.
Modern Italian Cuisine with a Charming Ambiance
The appetizers, although small, were really good, try as many as you can we ordered 12 different ap. for 9 people. I took the Carbonara with tartufo is a standout dish. The Tiramisu, with chocolate, was the perfect sweet ending to the meal.
The restaurant's terrace provides a picturesque setting, ideal for an enchanting evening during July. There was a lack of attentive waitstaff, resulting in delays and difficulty in placing orders. It is unfortunate that such a flaw tarnished an otherwise enjoyable experience.
If you can overlook the service shortcomings, this charming restaurant promises a memorable dining experience.
This place is offering interesting dishes while keeping some roots through typical Italian ingredients.
Food is good, and tasty with a slightly higher price range than average. Staff is young and friendly but could be more attentive.
Itโs worth a visit, and it has a wide range of possibilities for your evening. You can enjoy the music at the bar, have a party or just a date dinner.
Good food in a cool atmosphere! Fast service too! Definitely weโll go back.
This restaurant offers a wonderful ambiance, but unfortunately, the overall dining experience left something to be desired. The standout dish of the evening was the Tiramisu, which was truly exceptional.
On the downside, the service left much to be desired, possibly due to the inexperienced staff on a Sunday night. Despite providing my server with specific preferences for a relaxed dining experience, they seemed determined to rush through the meal.
A silver lining was the expertly crafted cocktails that added a positive note to the evening.
Good experience, the restaurant is very nice and the service is efficient and kind. Itโs funny for celebrating birthdays. Good food too
Lovely atmosphere. Great menu with options of meat and fish. Good desserts. The only suggestion I would reccommend is to improve their playlist to match the mood of the place and to reduce the volume a bit. Other that this I totally enkoyed it. Their Filetto in crosta is to die for.
Worst service, unprofessional and even rude waiters. Very medium level food and they sell you some cheap table wine instead of the one you asked. I took pasta with ricci and it was worst pasta with ricci I ever ate, and I order it always when it is in the menu. Worst experience in rome so far.
Me & my son visited it two nights ago. What a friendly atmosphere, food & staff๐๐ฝ๐๐ฝ๐๐ฝ๐๐ฝ. Very yummy Kansas Steak๐๐พ๐๐พ โฆ
Good food, lovely ambience. Hostess was snobby and didn't show us all the way to the table, seemed to care less. This therefore didn't start the experience well for me. But the waiters were nice and the food good.
